Match your risk tolerance. Beginners: stick to majors (EURUSD, USDJPY). Their tight spreads and high liquidity are forgiving. Exotics will eat you alive with spreads and slippage.
Avoid correlated overexposure. Trading EURUSD and GBPUSD simultaneously doubles your USD exposure. If USD strengthens, both positions lose. Use a correlation matrix.
